When Twin Cities based CRAVE Restaurant was founded in 2007, its owners were looking to create a “dining experience like no other.” One based on quality, locally sourced food, a chic atmosphere, and diverse choices that would allow guests to “create their own unforgettable dining experience.” When you want to create a winning recipe you have to start with great minds in the kitchen. With the creative combination of Executive Chef Eli Wollenzien and Culinary Director Jim Kyndberg CRAVE is constantly pushing the culinary boundaries to bring the best to their guests.
Fast-forward to 2012, and CRAVE has taken yet another step to ensure an unforgettable guest experience, with new restaurant pagers from HME Wireless. Knowing that food and atmosphere are just two of the many ingredients needed to build a successful restaurant, CRAVE management also instituted a “spirit of hospitality”– to put the quality of its service on par with its innovative food and atmosphere.

The restaurant paging systems are in operation at all seven CRAVE locations in Minnesota, Florida and Nebraska, where going “on wait” is a nightly occurrence at this popular destination known for its modern sushi bar and fresh spin on American cuisine.
According to Jim Hofer, Director of Training and Service Excellence, the restaurant pagers have helped to support CRAVE’s spirit of hospitality, without taking away from its ability to be personable with its guests.
“We were concerned about technology turning our hosts and hostesses into robots, but it actually gives them more face time with our guests, and allows them to be more personable,” said Hofer. “The system is able to be hidden, and the pagers are easily accessible without drawing attention away from the guest.”
CRAVE was also drawn to the ease of use of HME’s pagers for restaurants. Hofer noted that the pagers are easy and intuitive, and allow staff to focus on guests without having to think too much about the technology.
With long lines and busy crowds a nightly occurrence, CRAVE restaurants rely heavily on the café pagers to keep its service top-notch. Hofer noted that the new restaurant paging systems have helped to reduce wait times, while maintaining that all-important personal touch with guests.
“Depending on the time of year, we’ll have guests waiting at the bar, in the lobby, or outside on patios,” said Hofer. “The restaurant pagers allow us to guide guests to the place they find most comfortable while waiting for a table — and you can’t put a price on that.”
