Bait shop turned dining destination in Isle of Palms, SC, calls on GuestCall LTD restaurant pagers to freshen up customer service and efficiency
The Boathouse at Breach Inlet wasn’t always an expansive, waterside dining destination known for fresh, local seafood and a southern flair. In fact, it was a ramshackle bait shop with an attached dock that also happened to sit on the launching site of our country’s first submarine, the H.L. Hunley.
That was until 1997, when Richard Stoney had a vision for turning the bait shop into a hotspot for great dining and spectacular views. Today, his Boathouse at Breach Inlet is a bustling success, featuring three bars, 185 seats and seasonal crowds that number up to 600 guests on a typical weekend night.
To manage the crowds and enhance its customer-friendly service, The Boathouse recently called on GuestCall LTD restaurant pagers from HME Wireless. Assistant manager Heather Harrell explained that with three bars and beautiful waterfront views all around, it’s common for waiting guests to wander around. The restaurant needed expanded range from its restaurant paging systems, and GuestCall LTD fit the bill.
“The pagers for restaurants are a big help in contacting guests and getting them to their tables quickly” said Harrell. “And with up to 35 people on a typical weekend night wait, they’ve also helped to reduce walk-aways.”
Harrell noted that Boathouse management was attracted to the look of HME Wireless’ restaurant paging systems, and found them more affordable than replacing pagers from its old system. She’s impressed with the range and performance, and said she would definitely recommend them for similar establishments. “Summer Season along the South Carolina coast is one of the busiest places anywhere and only really durable solutions will work for this kind of volume,” stated Russ Ford, Vice President of Sales for HME Wireless. “We are really glad we got the opportunity help the Boathouse.”
Poised at the "breach" between the Intra-coastal Waterway and the Atlantic, guests at The Boathouse enjoy spectacular sunset views and balmy ocean breezes of the Isle of Palms. Not to mention an array of fresh seafood with a decidedly southern flair. There’s spicy shrimp and grits, blue cheese coleslaw, collard greens and, most notably, fresh seafood. The Boathouse at Breach Inlet features up to six fresh “catches of the day” from local waters, and is proud to use only local and sustainable foods.
Now, with restaurant pagers from HME Wireless “on the menu”, this bait-shop-turned-dining-destination can continue on its mission of “serving simply fresh seafood since 1997.” And do it in a way that keeps tables turning, and guests satisfied.
